Juan José de Santa Cruz

Juan José de Santa Cruz y Garcés de Marcilla (Madrid , 1880 - Granada , 1936) was a Spanish civil engineer, politician, writer, who built what, at the time, was the highest road in Europe, with a route that linked the capital with the Sierra Nevada. Another of his emblematic works is the Alhambra Palace Hotel.

He was shot in the Civil War on 2 August 1936.
